The 2012 Seal Beach Summer concerts appear to have reached a pinnacle with the city council weighing in with a vote on implementing a seating curfew. Last year at the summer concerts the visible signs of over crowding were made worse by space grabbing and generated enough buzz to make it in the local papers.
The summer concerts, which are an event hosted Seal Beach chamber of commerce, are being held in partnership with the City of Seal Beach this year. This new partnership also brings changes to the event such as replacing on site food vendors with a list of local restaurants offering to-go or dine-in food specials to concert goer’s.
Additionally, on July 9th the city council voted 5-0 in favor of placing a 4 pm curfew on all unattended personal belongings left at Eisenhower park where the concerts are held.
According to the policy created by the city, unattended belongings will be removed from the park area until 4 pm at which time they can picked up by the Chamber’s booth. This change was made to create a fair seating situation for everyone that wishes to attend, not just those that can get to the park earliest to save large swaths of grass. In addition, the Chamber & City wish to keep park open to the public during the day by keeping it free from a clutter of personal belongings.
Besides these changes, concert goers will be entertained by some new bands such as Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and The Walking Phoenixes which cover Johnny Cash in such detail you’d think you were watching the late musician live. What fun would evening concerts be without great food? The Seal Beach chamber also took that into consideration and partnered with their local member restaurant’s to create a concert dining guide sure to please regardless what you are in the mood for. Simply visit the Chamber’s booth at the concert and grab a list of the participating restaurant’s.
