Mentorship in business
When you are in business for yourself and work as a one man show, if you are successful, you come to a pretty simple realization: you are not good at everything.
People in the community have begun to see me as a social media expert, and I do post a great deal on Facebook, Patch, Twitter, my own blog and in other ways. One thing I am not as good at is the strategy and planning for my business. I know where I want to go, but not always the steps for how to get there. So I look for an expert right here in town.
That is why I look to Black Marble Consulting with Seth Eaker, as my business consultant. He and I have a lot in common: we are about the same age, we both love leadership and our community and we both are interested in technology and how to leverage it to help our customers. He is also a past president of the Chamber of Commerce, as I am. This allows us to have a kind of “simpatico” in our working relationship.
Seth has a way to squeeze value out of every deal. In addition, it is really helpful to have an expert on my side as I evaluate various types of marketing, promotions and communication tools. It makes it easy to determine what has value and what doesn’t. He has a sense for how to make complex patterns and decisions as easy as 1, 2, 3.
He even teaches a class with my vice-president, Deb Machen. If you want to learn more about what they are doing, or even to register for the class, check them out at www.blackmarketbusinesssolutions.com because they are really so good, they should be illegal!
