Fresh & Easy Express opened today in Seal Beach prompting a visit and small shopping spree by the Ferguson family. Being that I’m the President of the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce, I was compelled to be one of the first people to patronize the new store.
My initial impression upon entering was how well they managed the space. The layout and overall design of the store will surprise you, especially if you remember the size of the previous building that occupied this property.
The first food items you encounter are freshly prepared salads and lunches perfect for people on the go. Just down the isle is their meat section which offered a good selection, though I did not notice if organic was offered as an alternative. The store does cater to gluten free products with several types of crackers and breads.
They also have offerings for those not so health conscious looking for a candy bar or 18 pack of beer. I was surprised, but this is no doubt a smart play for a store focused on convenience and serving up a variety of options in a small beach town.
Another nice option we came across was the wine selection, which was minimalist in keeping with the stores theme. Though smaller in size and variety, the price range was attractive with prices ranging from $1.99 per bottle up to $9.99. We grabbed a few different bottles and will report back after we have a chance to do a tasting.
I did have a chance to talk with the stores General Manager, Cynthia Martinez, about a ribbon cutting at the new Fresh & Easy Express location. She explained that the new express locations only do soft openings to ease into the community. She patiently answered my questions even though it was obvious the executives were busily hovering around the store.
Overall we had a good first experience in the store and would encourage you to stop in and check it out. If you’ve already been in the new Fresh & Easy Express I’d like to hear your first impressions. Leave your comment’s in the “Speak Your Mind” area below!
